Liverpool fan dubbed 'time traveller' for Valentine's tweet over Man City ban in 2019

Fans have been quick to troll Manchester City off the back of their two-year European football ban from UEFA - but one Liverpool supporter was quicker than everyone.

Back on Valentine's Day in 2018, City tweeted out asking for the best rhymes, starting with ‘roses are red, Manchester is blue'.

It was accompanied by a picture of Nicolas Otamendi celebrating his goal at Old Trafford as City had beaten Manchester United 2-1 in December that season on route to the title.

The post, though, has backfired as rival supporters of the likes of Liverpool, United and Tottenham have jumped at the chance to rub salt into City's wounds.

Yesterday, on Valentine's Day two years on from City's tweet, it was confirmed the club had been banned from playing in Europe for the 2020/21 and 2021/22 seasons.

They were found guilty of committing ‘serious breaches' of UEFA's club licensing and Financial Fair Play regulations.

City will be appealing the decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport and said they were ‘disappointed but not surprised' by the announcement from UEFA's Adjudicatory Chamber.

One Liverpool fan in particular was not surprised in the slightest either.

The account @FortunateTasar had tweeted a reply to City on June 21, 2019.

And his poem read: "Roses are red, Manchester is blue, One day FFP, Will come and get you".

The incredible prediction went viral on Twitter and fans were left stunned after yesterday's outcome for the reigning Premier League champions.

One replied: "And guess what?? It did".

Another joked: "Dub so big I had too armour myself bossman".

A third put: "This aged beautifully."

"This is some serious Simpson level prediction," a fourth said.

One posted back suggesting: "Man can see the future".

Another added: "The foresight here is amazing."

One insisted: "This guy is a time traveller!"

And a final person asked: "Got tomorrow's lottery numbers lad?"

While City have been banned, it won't affect other teams chances of clinching Champions League qualification this season.

Should Pep Guardiola's side finish in the top four this term, fifth place will secure Champions League football instead.
