Swindon manager Richie Wellens confessed to being “half pleased” with a share of the points against an improved Carlisle side.
The Cumbrians extended their unbeaten run to five games after Aaron Hayden’s second-half header cancelled out an 11th-minute strike from Rarmani Edmonds-Green at Brunton Park.
Wellens said: “It’s bittersweet really. We had chances to win yes. We could have two or three goals by half time.
“It was a low quality game. Too many people had too many touches.
“It was not a great day for good football. But I have to be pleased with a point. We can’t seem to get any rhythm into our games at the moment.
“Conditions were difficult for both sets of players. It was not a day for good football. It was a tough environment to play in .”
However, the Swindon boss had words of praise for Carlisle;s defence.
He said: “They blocked a lot of our shots and great credit to them. They were more difficult to play through than I expected, but the way it materialised I am pleased with a point and move on.”
Carlisle head coach Chris Beech was happy with his side’s work ethic.
He said: “I am pleased with the hard work and endeavour we showed, but disappointed we didn’t win.
“Our keeper did not have brilliant saves to make. We got the ball down and passed it well but I still want more ammunition for our front men.”
