Bromley leave it late to snatch point against Solihull

Bromley fought back for a 2-2 National League draw at home to Solihull thanks to late goals from Frankie Raymond and Corey Whitely as they claimed their first point in five games.

The visitors, who remain ninth as a result, came close to taking an early lead in the opening exchanges before Danny Wright had a goal disallowed following a foul.

Still on the front foot, Wright headed Terry Hawkridge’s assist onto the underside of the crossbar as Solihull continued to press on the half-hour mark.

Bromley almost broke the deadlock 10 minutes after the break as Joe Kizzi picked out Michael Cheek, but the latter’s header floated over, while Ravens goalkeeper Mark Cousins tipped a close-range chance from Nathan Blissett over at the other end.

The away side finally got on the score sheet after 68 minutes as Darren Carter’s free-kick was bundled into the net by Bromley’s Chris Bush, and substitute George Carline – who had been on the pitch for just three minutes – doubled their lead.

The hosts reduced the deficit thanks to Raymond’s effort from the edge of the box with 11 minutes remaining and second-half substitute Whitely equalised at the death for a share of the spoils as Bromley moved up a spot to sixth.
