Chris O’Grady hits career milestone in Bolton’s win over Tranmere

Chris O’Grady netted the 100th league goal of his career as Bolton beat League One relegation rivals Tranmere 2-0.
The 34-year-old striker, currently playing at his 17th club, doubled Wanderers’ advantage after Dennis Politic fired Keith Hill’s side into a second-minute lead.
Wanderers’ victory against a team playing its fourth game in nine days ended a winless run of seven matches dating back to December 21.
Third-bottom Tranmere’s depressing sequence, however, went on, back to reality after recent glamour FA Cup ties with Watford and Manchester United, as they slipped six points from safety.
Micky Mellon’s side, unable to field deadline-day recruit and former favourite Andy Cook, never recovered from conceding Politic’s 20-yard right-foot rocket.
Goalkeeper Remi Matthews, who let in five goals when the sides met at Prenton Park last August, enjoyed one of his quietest afternoons of the season.
And after Ethan Hamilton, O’Grady and Politic all had shots blocked, Wanderers’ new centurion scored with a 10-yard right-footed effort after 64 minutes.
