Hessenthaler injury blow for Grimsby
Posted Friday, January 31, 2020 by PA
Grimsby are without midfielder Jake Hessenthaler for their Sky Bet League Two clash with Forest Green following his horror injury against Stevenage.
Hessenthaler suffered a broken rib, a punctured lung and ligament damage across his shoulder and collarbone in a collision early in the game.
Forwards Matt Green (groin) and Ahkeem Rose (hamstring) are closing in on returns after training this week.
Midfielder Jordan Cook (calf) is not yet ready to return.
Forest Green are again without captain Joe Mills after learning the left-back’s knee injury is likely to sideline him for another six weeks.
Defender Liam Shephard could also be out for another month after suffering a hamstring injury on his return to action against Carlisle in midweek.
Midfielder George Williams, out since the opening day of the season with a broken leg, was an unused substitute on Tuesday.
Manager Mark Cooper will also have to check on two more hamstring injury victims in Jevani Brown and Dayle Grubb.
