Ryan Lowe remaining positive despite Plymouth being pegged back late on

Plymouth boss Ryan Lowe remains positive following a 2-2 Sky Bet League Two draw with Crawley.

Target man Ollie Palmer top and tailed Crawley’s battling draw with a 27th-minute opener and a superb stoppage time headed goal to level.

Antoni Sarcevic won and converted a 44th minute penalty before substitute Luke Jephcott headed Argyle in front after 83 minutes.

Argyle slipped to fourth but Lowe said: “It’s a point in the right direction. There’s a few moans and groans because we didn’t get the three points but – look – it’s not going to be plain sailing all the way.

“We are disappointed that we didn’t see it out and take the three points.

“First 15 minutes we started very brightly.

“Then we made a few mistakes and errors that wasn’t like us.

“You think ‘what’s going on?’

“We find ourselves 1-0 down, an error, where we should do better.

“We should clear it.

“Then we did well to get back into the game and when we did I though there was only one team that was going to go on and win it – especially when Luke scores…

“It wasn’t to be but how can I sit here and be disappointed we have got four wins and a draw in the last five games.

“If you’d told me before these five matches I’d be sat here with four wins and a draw I would have bitten your hand off for it.

“Yes I am disappointed we have not got five wins but that’s football – there’s going to be ups and downs.

“We have got to be patient, the whole place has got to be patient, because it’s not going to happen overnight.

“We have got to make sure we play in the right style that has got us here today and continue to show a lot of positives.

“Besides you have always got to give credit to the opposition, because Crawley weren’t going to come here tonight and roll over.”

Crawley boss John Yems said: “Plymouth are a good side, we had to press and work hard. That is what we are about.

“If we don’t do that, and we try and go toe to toe with footballing sides, we get beaten. We are a work in process but I am so pleased and proud of all of the team and the supporters.

“We missed some chances as well and without being super critical, the two goals we gave away were preventable.

“You come away here with a point and you are more than pleased so onwards and upwards.

“Ollie is doing really well, he has got the bit between his teeth. He is buying in to what we are doing so long may it continue.

“Our supporters have come all the way and they deserved something to cheer about and talk about so fantastic.

“It was end to end. When you go 1-0 and they get one back and you think ‘here we go.’

“Then they get the second. But one thing about our side is that they don’t give in.

“Even the subs that came on, they all make a difference. As soon as I stop enjoying it, I will curl my toes up.”
