Reid at the double for Dagenham

On-loan Stevenage striker Alex Reid scored twice to fire Dagenham to a first win in 10 Vanarama National League games as Notts County’s eight-match unbeaten run ended with a 2-0 defeat.
Ross Fitzsimons, recalled by County from his loan at Chesterfield this week following an injury to Sam Slocombe, made a good early impression as his long goal-kick put Kristian Dennis through, with Elliot Justham winning the one-on-one. Chike Kandi shot wide for Daggers before Fitzsimons denied Liam Gordon with his feet.
Michael Doyle shot narrowly wide on the half-volley after controlling a Dennis pass and Fitzsimons saved County again when tipping over Mitch Brundle’s header after the half hour.
Cal Roberts, newly signed from Blyth Spartans, went close to a debut goal before the break when Kyle Wootton released him in behind, Justham again sweeping up as the last man.
Dagenham made the breakthrough in the 61st minute, debutant Reid tapping home from a Sam Deering corner. There was soon worse news for County as Doyle was sent off for fouling Deering and earning a second yellow card.
Reid passed the ball into an empty net for his second when Brundle’s initial strike was spilled by Fitzsimons in the 79th minute.
