Notts County moved up to fifth in the Vanarama National League following a 2-1 win against play-off rivals Bromley.
Wes Thomas fired the Magpies in front in the fourth minute after good work from Sam Osborne.
Thomas was denied by the goalkeeper after controlling Connell Rawlinson’s superb 60-yard pass, and shortly afterwards County were awarded a penalty when Alex Lacey was bundled over in the penalty area.
Mitch Rose stepped up and sent his spot-kick against a post.
Bromley thought they had equalised after 29 minutes but the referee deemed nobody else had touched a long throw from Chris Bush before the ball nestled in the net.
Sam Slocombe pulled off a stunning save to keep out Billy Bingham’s fierce drive before the break, but Bromley did level shortly after the restart when Michael Cheek let fly from distance.
Notts County regained the lead with 20 minutes remaining through Rawlinson’s first goal for the club – a powerful header from a corner.
Bush was sent off at the death for a second booking as Notts County comfortably held on.
