Andy Williams leaves it late to win it for Northampton

Andy Williams struck deep into stoppage-time as Northampton started the New Year with a highly-dramatic 1-0 victory over bottom-of-the-table Stevenage.
The game was a dour affair for the most part and a goalless draw seemed inevitable until Williams finished well in the 94th minute to lift the Cobblers back into the play-off places.
Paul Farman beat away Vadaine Oliver’s header inside the first two minutes and then did the same from Charlie Goode.
Ben Kennedy rattled the woodwork but Farman was the busier goalkeeper and he produced his best stop of the first half when getting down quickly to keep out Sam Hoskins’ low volley.
Stevenage started well in the second half as Elliott List had a shot blocked and Michael Timlin blazed wide, although Williams should have done better when he put too much on his attempted lob.
But he redeemed himself in stoppage-time, racing through on goal and making no mistake when drilling inside Farman’s near post to clinch a dramatic win.
