Stead hits the winner as Harrogate complete double over Hartlepool

Jon Stead scored the only goal of the game as Harrogate completed a festive double over Hartlepool.
Town, who stay fourth in the National League, were 4-1 winners over Pools on Boxing Day and battled to a 1-0 victory at Victoria Park to make it three games without a win for Dave Challinor’s men.
Harrogate striker Jack Muldoon scooped a shot over the crossbar midway through a poor first half.
Stead blazed over after being sent clear at the start of the second, but the veteran striker did give the visitors the lead shortly afterwards, sliding in to convert Jack Emmett’s low cross.
Muldoon had a goal ruled out for a push from Stead in the build-up, while substitute Luke Molyneux – making his first appearance of the season after a lengthy injury absence – curled just over with Hartlepool’s best chance of an equaliser.
