Nottingham Forest waiting on Samba Sow ahead of Blackburn game

Nottingham Forest are hoping midfielder Samba Sow will be fit for the visit of Blackburn on New Year’s Day.
Sow missed Sunday’s battling win over Wigan after being forced off towards the end of the first half of the Reds’ 2-0 victory at Hull on Boxing Day.
The player said on social media after the game that it was “just a dead leg” but it was enough to keep him out of the team that made it back-to-back wins courtesy of Tobias Figueiredo’s header and Brice Samba’s late penalty save.
Yuri Ribeiro (knee), Michael Hefele (Achilles) and Yohan Benalouane (hip) are all closing in on returns for Sabri Lamouchi’s side.
Blackburn manager Tony Mowbray is still making assessments before deciding if any of his senior players will be fit enough for Wednesday’s game.
Derrick Williams and Lewis Holtby added their names to the absentees list, with Ryan Nyambe and Corry Evans having limped out of the games with Birmingham and Wigan respectively.
It comes in a week where Rovers have been rocked by news that Bradley Dack will miss much of 2020 with an anterior cruciate knee ligament injury, having already been without on-loan full back Greg Cunningham.
The one positive for Rovers was having on-loan Manchester City defender Tosin Adarabioyo available again having missed the two previous two home games.
