Oldham likely to be without Tomas Egert for Scunthorpe game

Oldham may be without defender Tomas Egert for Wednesday’s Sky Bet League Two clash against Scunthorpe at Boundary Park.
The former Burton centre-back started Sunday’s 4-1 defeat to neighbours Salford but was forced to leave the pitch after 23 minutes following a head injury.
Egert suffered facial injuries and required a number of stitches to a cut on his ear after coming off and could be rested for the New Year’s Day clash.
Latics boss Dino Maamria has no suspensions to worry about but the match will come too soon for defender Jamie Stott and veteran midfielder David Jones.
The hosts won their previous two matches before that Salford loss as they put some space between themselves and the relegation zone, while Scunthorpe sit two points better off in 14th after two straight defeats.
Iron striker Kevin Van Veen was suffering from illness before Sunday’s 3-1 loss at Crewe and came off at half-time after struggling, so could be missing against Oldham as he recovers.
Defensive midfielder James Perch has been playing with a knock for the last couple of games and will be assessed ahead of the match.
Manager Paul Hurst hopes to have on-loan Sheffield United goalkeeper Jake Eastwood (groin) available after missing the last two games, but Scunthorpe have no suspension worries.
