Farrend Rawson’s second-half header ended Forest Green’s seven-game winless run as they beat Macclesfield 1-0 in League Two.
Rawson netted in the 75th minute to earn Rovers a first win in any competition since November 23 and get their promotion bid back on track.
Earlier, in a pedestrian opening 20 minutes, Macclesfield’s Arthur Gnahoua failed to get any purchase on a cross from Emmanuel Osadebe and Junior Mondal followed suit for Rovers after Elliott Frear picked him out.
Chances were scant, but Rovers’ Mondal sparked into life after 36 minutes, bending a left-footer towards the top corner which Owen Evans pushed over.
At the other end, Jay Harris pulled the trigger from the edge of the box to demand a fine save from Rovers keeper Adam Smith with three minutes of the first half to go.
Rovers broke the deadlock with 15 minutes to go as Liam Shephard’s free-kick was glanced home from close-range by Rawson.
Ebou Adams was denied a second for Rovers after 80 minutes, Evans falling on his shot from the edge of the box.
Macclesfield, who have been docked six points by the EFL, sit just two points above the relegation zone.
