Gillingham extend Ipswich’s winless run after goalless draw

Ipswich’s winless run extended to six League One matches after a goalless draw at home to Gillingham.

The Tractor Boys have now triumphed just once in 12 outings but mid-table Gillingham, in stark contrast, have now lost just once in 10 games and will probably even see this as a case of two points dropped.

They controlled the first half-hour with Brandon Hanlan, twice, Mikael Mandron and Thomas O’Connor all coming close.

Ipswich failed to threaten until the 32nd minute when Kayden Jackson fired high into the side netting.

Just before the break Jackson fluffed a great opportunity when he burst clear and instead of shooting elected to roll the ball across the face of goal, where there was nobody in a position to cash in.

Ipswich improved after the break but could not turn their possession into goals and it was the Gills who came closest to breaking the deadlock when Thomas O’Connor shot wide before Olly Lee forced Will Norris into the game’s best save.
