Baptiste stunner sees off Lincoln

Shandon Baptiste hit a screamer to bring Oxford a 1-0 win over Lincoln and consolidate their push for automatic promotion.
The Imps looked to be in little danger when Baptiste picked up the ball in the 36th minute, but the midfielder unleashed a stunning 30-yard shot which flew in off the underside of the bar.
Victory completed the double over Lincoln for Oxford as Michael Appleton returned home pointless from his first return to his old club, but it was a much tougher test on this occasion for Karl Robinson’s team, who won 6-0 at Sincil Bank in September.
Substitute John Akinde nearly snatched an equaliser in stoppage time with a header against the post.
Earlier, U’s striker Matty Taylor just failed to turn in Chris Cadden’s cross and Cameron Brannagan brought a good save out of Josh Vickers.
Lincoln’s players were furious to see United defender John Mousinho only yellow carded for cynically pulling back Tyler Walker when he raced towards goal.
