Aldershot move further clear of bottom four after seeing off Stockport

Aldershot lifted themselves four points clear of the relegation zone with a 2-1 win over Stockport.
The visitors could have taken the lead inside the opening minute but Elliot Osborne fired over from Tom Walker’s cross.
And they were made to pay for that miss as Craig Tanner struck on his home debut after 16 minutes, latching on to Mohamed Bettamer’s pass and slotting past Ben Hinchcliffe.
Stockport responded well and threatened as Tyler Garratt picked out Devante Rodney at the far post, but his effort was kept out by Mitch Walker.
Tanner almost grabbed his second after the break but Hinchcliffe turned his header around the post.
Stockport equalised after 57 minutes as Rodney reacted fastest after a goalmouth scramble to poke the loose ball past Walker.
But Aldershot hit back eight minutes later to restore their lead. Lewis Kinsella’s cross found Bettamer, who coolly slotted home – with the goal awarded after an offside flag was overruled.
