There were no other real chances in the opening 45 minutes but Town doubled their lead early in the second half when Jon Stead curled a left-footed strike into the top corner.
Jamie Reid pulled a goal back for visitors Torquay from the penalty spot in the 68th minute after a foul in the area by Bradley.
Ben Whitfield came close to an equaliser for the Gulls in the 87th minute but his shot was just wide.
