Inverness consolidate second place after beating Ayr

Goals from Jordan White and Miles Storey helped Inverness beat Ayr 2-0 at home in the Scottish Championship.

James Keatings was off target with a couple of efforts before Caley Thistle took the lead in the 20th minute, White finding the bottom corner from around 16 yards for his first goal in seven games.

Storey had an effort tipped behind by Ayr keeper Ross Doohan before the break as Inverness looked to extend their advantage.

But the home side did make it 2-0 in the 63rd minute, Storey slotting past Doohan following a stunning solo run – his first league goal since August.

Inverness keeper Mark Ridgers saved well late on from Mark McKenzie as the home side made it three successive wins while Ayr suffered a sixth defeat in eight games.
