Tom Naylor could return for Portsmouth as they host Peterborough in League One on Saturday.
The captain has returned to full training following a hamstring injury and is in contention for the match.
However Marcus Harness, who picked up a knock to the knee during his side’s Leasing.com Trophy win over Northampton on Tuesday, remains a doubt.
Jack Whatmough is expected to feature in a reserve match before being considered for first-team selection while Bryn Morris remains sidelined with a groin problem.
Peterborough will be without George Boyd and Josh Knight for the trip to the south coast, with the pair ruled out through injury.
Siriki Dembele and Joe Ward are both doubts for the Pompey clash after they picked up wrist and groin problems respectively during their side’s midweek clash with Ipswich.
Defender Frazer Blake-Tracy is also sidelined after he sustained an ankle injury.
Posh manager Darren Ferguson will be hoping his side can improve their fortunes away from home after two successive defeats on the road.
