Chorley earn vital home victory over Dagenham

A 20-yard strike from Alex Newby saw Chorley claim a vital 1-0 win at home to Dagenham and Redbridge in the National League.
The Magpies got the game’s first chance on the half hour mark, forcing the visitors to clear the ball off their own line after Mitch Brundle’s shot was saved by Matt Urwin.
Chorley striker Newby then stepped up to put the home side ahead in the 63rd minute, sending his ambitious half-volley flying into the top corner.
Dagenham looked to mount a late fightback with two efforts from Joan Luque in the last 10 minutes, but Urwin was equal to both.
