Shinnie and Bennett blow for Rams

Derby’s Graeme Shinnie and Mason Bennett have both been ruled out of action for “months”, manager Phillip Cocu has confirmed.

The pair suffered injuries against Preston last weekend, with Shinnie (hamstring) and Bennett (ankle) beginning spells on the sidelines against QPR on Saturday.

Scott Malone (knee), Tom Huddlestone (knee) and Ikechi Anya (calf) are also expected to remain out as Derby look for a sixth straight victory at Pride Park.

Wayne Rooney will make his return to English football as a coach on Saturday after Derby confirmed the former England captain will be on their bench.

QPR manager Mark Warburton could make changes to his team after the 4-0 home defeat to Nottingham Forest left him “more than angry.”

Geoff Cameron, Josh Scowen, Bright Osayi-Samuel and Jordan Hugill are among the options available to Warburton.

One player who is not available is Lee Wallace after he was sent off on Wednesday night. The defender will serve a one-match ban.

Yoann Barbet remains an injury doubt with a muscle problem while Liam Kelly (thigh) is still on the sidelines for a QPR team who have lost four times in a current six-game winless streak.
