New Spurs boss Jose Mourinho eyeing triple January transfer swoop for Nemanja Matic, Ruben Dias and Bruno Fernandes

JOSE MOURINHO has told Tottenham there are three players he would like to bring in when the transfer window opens, it has been claimed.

Mourinho gave chairman Daniel Levy a clear vision of what he sees as the future of the squad before the club agreed to appoint him as their new manager.

And despite assuring them he believes there is quality in the squad to work with, the Independent say the 56-year-old made it clear there are a trio of targets he has in mind for Janaury.

Top of the list is Sporting Lisbon playmaker Bruno Fernandes - who has been a long-term target for Spurs under Pochettino.

But the article also claims Mourinho wants Spurs to try to sign Benfica star Ruben Dias and also Manchester United outcast Nemanja Matic.

The pursuit of Fernandes is an obvious one, as the North London club look to find a replacement for Christian Eriksen as the creative force in the side.

Eriksen's days are numbered, having made it clear he will not extend the contract which runs out at the end of the season and Spurs could look to move him on when the transfer window opens in six weeks.

It would take a bid of around £63million for Spurs to land the attacking midfielder but they will have to dig deep if they want to beat United to his services.

The suggestion Matic is a target will come as a surprise given the way he has been frozen out at Old Trafford under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The Serb has made just four Premier League appearances this season and Solskjaer believes he lacks the mobility to get around the pitch nowadays.

But Mourinho is a long-term fan of the 31-year-old having taken hmi to both Chelsea and United in the past, and believes he is excellent tactically and could make a big impact if he can tempt him down to London.

Dias, 22, is regarded as one of the best young centre-backs in Europe and Mourinho is already looking to bring him in as he prepares to shake-up the mis-firing back line.

With doubts over the future of Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen, United and Manchester City target Dias would be a signing who could come in and establish himself as a force for years in the side.
