Injury problems for Hurst ahead of Port Vale clash

Paul Hurst has several injury concerns as his squad prepare to face Port Vale on Saturday.
Regan Slater (ankle), Jamie Ward (hamstring), Yann Songo’o (dislocated toe), Junior Brown (thigh) and Levi Sutton (hand) all missed the Iron’s 2-0 defeat of Leyton Orient at the weekend and remain unlikely inclusions.
Kevin Van Veen was replaced during the Orient victory after suffering a leg injury and will be assessed ahead of the game.
Jordan Hallam (hamstring), George Miller (quad) and Kgosi Ntlhe (groin) have returned to training and could feature if deemed fit.
Port Vale are unbeaten in seven games across all competitions as they head to Glanford Park.
Valiants manager John Askey has made no adjustments to his squad for two league fixtures despite having an almost-full complement of players to pick from.
Jordan Archer and David Worrall are the only possible absentees, with the former suffering from a foot injury and the latter leaving the pitch injured in the final stages of the club’s 2-1 victory over Carlisle.
Tom Pope had been absent from training due to a virus, but was used as a substitute against Carlisle and should be available.
