Hartlepool boss Challinor hails spirit after FA Cup win

Dave Challinor praised the spirit of his Hartlepool side after orchestrating a clinical 4-1 FA Cup victory over National League rivals Yeovil.
The Glovers’ Lawson D’Ath scored within five minutes in a first-round tie rearranged following Saturday’s postponement.
But the visitors dominated after that, Luke James, Gavan Holohan, Nicke Kabamba and Gime Toure all scoring for a side making their second lengthy trip south in four days.
“We’ve got through to the second round and given ourselves another tie back down south at either Cambridge or Exeter,” said Challinor.
“The players deserve massive credit after the postponement at the weekend to come here and put in a performance like that.
“We fell behind but to come back from that setback and go on to win the game in that manner is tremendous.”
D’Ath swept home early on but Pools levelled through the impressive James, who then set up Holohan in the 20th minute.
Kabamba headed in before Yeovil’s hopes were dashed when defender Luke Wilkinson received a second yellow card, with Toure wrapping up the tie soon after from the penalty spot.
“The goals we conceded were horrendous,” said Yeovil manager Darren Sarll.
“It’s a humbling defeat for us and brings us back down to earth and makes us understand where we stand at the moment.”
