Robinson urges Oxford to maintain winning form as they compete on all fronts

Oxford boss Karl Robinson is hoping to maintain his side’s run of good form until Christmas following the 2-0 win over Hayes & Yeading.
The U’s spurned a series of first-half chances against the part-timers but the four-division gap eventually proved too much as goals from Sam Long and Rob Hall ensured Robinson’s side advanced to the second round of the FA Cup.
“We weren’t very good in the second half, came off our game plan, became a little bit individual in some aspects of the game,” he said.
“But we’ve won 2-0, kept a clean sheet and are still fighting on all four fronts heading into Christmas – I’ve never done that in my career and I’m sure the players haven’t either.”
“The most important thing is we’re through to the next round of this competition.
Meanwhile Hayes & Yeading boss Paul Hughes remained upbeat despite the defeat.
“The second half was superb and to match ourselves against one of the best teams at this stage of the competition is a great confidence booster for us,” he said.
“We knew he’d be under pressure as the game was going to be expansive second half.
“We’ve got to lick our wounds and concentrate on the FA Trophy in the week.
“We’ll patch ourselves up, I’m sure we’ll be fine.”
