Goals from Danny Parish and Jorome Slew fired Maldon & Tiptree to a massive cup upset with a 2-1 win over League Two Leyton Orient at Brisbane Road.
James Dayton gave Orient hope and the visitors also finished with 10-men after Parish was sent off for a second yellow card on 83 minutes, but the eighth-tier side held on to reach the second round for the first time in their history.
The visitors took the lead two minutes before half-time. Charlee Hughes found Parish, who raced clear before drilling the ball into the corner of the net.
Despite enduring constant pressure from the home side, they doubled their lead on 65 minutes when they broke quickly out of defence and leading scorer Slew sent his shot from outside the box into the net for his 21st goal of the season.
Substitute Dayton halved the deficit within two minutes, but Orient were unable to get back in the game.
Parish, booked for a foul halfway through the second period, was cautioned again for a dive on 83 minutes but the visitors held out for a thoroughly deserved victory.
