Solihull Moors manager Tim Flowers relieved to avoid FA Cup upset at Oxford City

Solihull Moors manager Tim Flowers was satisfied his side did not come unstuck as they beat Oxford City 5-1 to progress to the second round of the FA Cup.
Paul McCallum’s towering header opened the scoring for the Moors and the striker completed a brace, while James Ball’s hat-trick sealed the result as Kyran Wiltshire bagged Oxford’s consolation.
Victory ensured Solihull reached the second round for the third time in four seasons and Flowers was impressed with his side’s character.
“There’s always a chance of the proverbial ‘banana skin’, you look at the weather and it’s lashing down,” Flowers said.
“We’re coming to a pitch we don’t tend to play on very often and against a team with a little bit of momentum, so it had an upset written all over it.
“The players know we’ve got a way that this football club conducts itself on the pitch, we know how we want to play and what we’re doing. I thought they stuck to it.”
Oxford City came into the game unbeaten in four but interim manager Andy Ballard believed they were outclassed.
“Our levels weren’t there today. We wanted to start quick and we thought we should be able to do that today,” Ballard said.
“Being at home on our own surface but they are a very good side who made it very difficult for us to get out of our own box.”
