McFadzean goal earns Plymouth FA Cup win over Bolton

Callum McFadzean earned League Two Plymouth a place in the FA Cup second round with a 1-0 win over League One hosts Bolton at the University of Bolton Stadium.
The former Bury player, who followed Pilgrims boss Ryan Lowe from the north-west to Home Park, netted a rasping left-foot goal after only 11 minutes.
His fifth goal of the campaign also earned the Devon side a first away win at Bolton since 1967.
Wanderers, chasing a fourth successive victory under former Plymouth defender Keith Hill, started brightly with Joe Dodoo and Chris O’Grady shooting narrowly wide.
But McFadzean’s goal, after good approach work and cross by Danny Mayor, deflated Wanderers who suffered their first first-round exit for 30 years.
Mayor and Josh Grant forced Bolton keeper Remi Matthews into decent saves as the visitors looked to double their advantage.
Dodoo was denied by keeper Alex Palmer at the start of the second period and for all their possession, Bolton created little to save themselves from an early departure from the competition.
