The Gunners are in the midst of an ongoing crisis.

Former Tottenham ace Chris Waddle has launched a scathing attack on Arsenal boss Unai Emery for not addressing his squad’s weak points in the summer.

Arsenal have won just one of their last six fixtures in all competitions and have continued to showcase defensive frailties that plagued them during the final years of Arsene Wenger’s tenure.

Fans of the north London club have slowly but surely began to turn on Emery, who is under considerable mounting pressure to deliver them a top-four finish.

Waddle, like many others, hasn’t been impressed by what he’s seen of Emery’s troops in recent weeks.

The former Spurs ace reckons the Spaniard is on the brink of being relieved of his duties, with many believing the Arsenal brass could give him his marching orders should the lose to Leicester on Sunday afternoon.

And Waddle believes the former Sevilla and Paris Saint-Germain manager’s sacking will be entirely of his own doing.

He told the Racing Post: “I reckon they will lose and Emery will have no one to blame but himself if he does get the bullet.

“For example, he signed David Luiz in the summer but he’s no more than an okay defender – he’s certainly not the solution.

"Looking at Sokratis, Shkodran Mustafi and Rob Holding, you just think they’re not bad, nothing more.

"The keeper Bernd Leno’s okay but he’s not world-class either.

“I just don’t understand how Emery didn’t see that he needed to have a complete overhaul of the side defensively.

“As it stands I can see Arsenal finishing as low as seventh with 80 goals scored and 75 conceded and that doesn’t represent anything like the kind of progress their fans were demanding after Arsene Wenger left.”

On Friday afternoon, Emery revealed he’s held discussions with the Arsenal brass following the team’s 1-1 draw with Portuguese minnows Vitoria on Wednesday afternoon.

The Spaniard, however, is adamant the topic of his future at the club wasn’t discussed.

When asked if the board talked to him about his tenure at the club, the 48-year-old said. “No.

“We are speaking about our process to continue working and they did not show me some doubts."
