No fresh injury concerns for new MK Dons manager ahead of Port Vale cup game

MK Dons’ new manager Russell Martin was given an injury boost ahead of his side’s FA Cup first-round clash with Port Vale on Saturday.

Strike duo Rhys Healey and Sam Nombe have returned to running on treadmills as part of their rehabilitation programmes.

Joe Mason is also nearing a return having trained with the first team all week, and could make his return soon.

Martin will take charge of his first Dons game this weekend, after retiring from playing to take the role.

Cristian Montano has trained with Port Vale so is available for their trip to Milton Keynes.

Also available for the Valiants is Jake Taylor, who was given permission to play from parent club Nottingham Forest.

Midfielder Will Atkinson is likely to miss out for the cup game but is expected to return next week.

Tom Pope has missed training with a virus and it remains to be seen whether the forward will be included in John Askey’s matchday squad.
