Rowe on target as Ipswich go top

Danny Rowe’s 52nd minute goal was enough to take Ipswich back to the top of League One as they beat Rochdale 1-0 at the Crown Oil Arena.
Dale worked a decent opening early on when Matty Done got down the left and clipped a cross which evaded Ian Henderson but reached Rekeil Pyke at the back post, his shot deflected wide.
Ipswich closed the first half in the ascendancy with Luke Woolfenden’s goalbound effort cleared off the line and then Luke Garbutt collected a partially cleared corner and sent a 25-yard effort against the crossbar, bringing the first half to a close with the game evenly poised.
And the visitors took the lead seven minutes into the second half when Gwion Edwards’ cross took a deflection, helping it towards Rowe at the back post who was able to bundle the ball over the goalline from close range.
Garbutt’s 30-yard free-kick, driven low at goal, forced a save at full-stretch from Jay Lynch and Ipswich were close to a second soon after when Woolfenden glanced Garbutt’s corner wide.
