Ness nets winner as Dundee beat Morton

Substitute Jamie Ness struck the winner as Dundee moved three points behind Scottish Championship leaders Dundee United with a 2-1 home win over Morton.
Former Scotland midfielder Graham Dorrans fired wide twice for Dundee and Morton goalkeeper Sam Ramsbottom pulled off a fine save to keep out Declan McDaid’s effort.
The hosts’ pressure paid off in the 63rd minute when Kane Hemmings headed home his third goal in two matches, from Dorrans’ cross.
But Morton were level just a minute later through Cameron Salkeld, who converted Robbie Muirhead’s cross at the back post.
Dundee netted the winner 10 minutes from time when Ness found the top corner from 16 yards to leave third-bottom Morton winless on the road in the league.
