Blackburn’s Lewis Holtby is hoping to return to contention for the home game against Sheffield Wednesday.
Former Schalke, Tottenham and Hamburg midfielder Holtby, signed on a free transfer in September, has missed the last two games due to a hamstring strain.
Boss Tony Mowbray has no new injury or suspension problems following last week’s defeat at Preston.
Dominic Samuel and fellow striker Ben Brereton are both working their way back from long-term knee injuries.
Wednesday defender Julian Borner is expected to be available again.
The German missed last week’s goalless Yorkshire derby against Leeds after hurting his ankle in the warm-up.
Midfielder Massimo Luongo (knee) remains doubtful. The Australian also missed out last weekend and will be assessed.
Central defender Tom Lees is edging closer to his return to action having been sidelined since August with a hamstring injury.
