Ebbsfleet leave Chorley rooted to the bottom

Ebbsfleet secured back-to-back wins as they beat Chorley 4-0 in the bottom-of-the-table battle in the National League.
Fleet, who climbed off the basement on Saturday courtesy of a stoppage-time win at Sutton, opened the scoring in the fifth minute.
Newport loanee Marvel Ekpiteta fired home his first goal for the club on the rebound after Chorley keeper Matt Urwin had superbly saved an initial effort.
Defender Andrew Teague had a header cleared off the line and also hit a post as Chorley searched for an equaliser.
But the visitors extended their lead in the 43rd minute, Saturday’s hero Gozie Ugwu slotting home after a goalmouth scramble.
Jack King hit the bar for Fleet early in the second half before Ugwu grabbed his second on the hour.
Fleet forward Alex Reid was next to be denied by the woodwork but loanee Albie Morgan put the icing on the cake with a fine finish – his first goal for the club – with four minutes left as Chorley’s winless streak in the division stretched to nine games.
