Moore hails Doncaster response

Doncaster manager Darren Moore was delighted with the response of his side as they returned to winning ways with victory over Bristol Rovers.
Goals from Kieran Sadlier and Jon Taylor helped Rovers end a four game winless run and bounce back from their most disappointing performance in a 3-0 defeat at Oxford United the previous week.
It was the first time Moore had labelled a display unacceptable, but he was full of praise for the manner in which his side responded to beat their on-form visitors.
“We were really pleased to have the response that we did,” Moore said.
“With the Oxford game we were below par in terms of the performance, but we got back to what we know and I thought it was a good, high-level performance and I don’t think anyone can have any complaints at the result and obviously the performance.
“The response and the consistency we found throughout the game, the work and the detail we did during the week, working off the ball and on it, I’ve seen all evidence of that which went to getting the result.
“We knew Bristol Rovers were a strong team, a form team but I don’t think we gave them much room to implement their style of play.
“I thought we took the game away from them in terms of managing the ball with good passing and movement.
“It was a good team performance and a worthy three points.”
Rovers missed a penalty through Tom Nichols when the game was goalless, but boss Graham Coughlan admitted his side’s display was not up to scratch.
“I didn’t enjoy it,” Couglan said. “We weren’t at the races at all.
“For the first half-an-hour we were okay and looked a bit dangerous but didn’t take the chances, which seemed to drain the confidence from us and give this place a bit of a lift.
“They were there for the taking in the first half-an-hour but we didn’t take it and we gave them a bit of a lift.
“Sometimes football goes like that when you have opportunities and don’t take chances, it does give the opposition a lift.
“We were poor and didn’t turn up. It wasn’t us.
“We were poor on the ball and kept giving it back to them.
“When that happens eventually you’ll crack. If I’m honest, I think we got out of jail with it only being 2-0.”
