Eden Hazard signed for Real Madrid in the summer from Chelsea but has struggled with Los Blancos this season.

Eden Hazard is not the man to replace Cristiano Ronaldo at Real Madrid, according to former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger.

Hazard has scored once for Real since joining for an initial £88million in the summer transfer window from Chelsea.

The Belgian has struggled to impose himself in games for the La Liga leaders, despite having a brilliant season for Chelsea last year.

Hazard contributed to 31 Chelsea goals in the Premier League during his last year with the Blues, but he’s failed to carry on that form in Spain.

And Wenger believes it will be hard for Hazard to replicate what Ronaldo achieved at Real - simply because he’s not as good a goal scorer.

“He will be the answer but not in replacing Ronaldo, that is for sure,” he said.

“He will not score 50 goals a year because that’s now how they play football.

“They need another goal scorer in Madrid because Benzema is  now 32 and if they had someone younger around him to score the goals, maybe they could do very well.

“Eden Hazard is an exceptional player to create chances to sometimes finish when he needs to do in big games.

“He’s not scared of anybody – I don’t think Real have yet to see the real Hazard, he’s not as sharp physically as he can be.

“That’s why I believe they will discover the real Hazard.”

Hazard’s first goal for the club was a delightful chip against Granada in a 4-2 win last weekend.

He’s now away on international duty with Belgium, who have already thrashed San Marino 9-0.

Their next clash is against Kazakhstan, while Hazard should be back in action for Real against Mallorca next weekend.
