Sobbing Rebekah Vardy begs Coleen Rooney to believe she didn't leak stories in panicked phone call about 'Wagileaks' online row

WAG Becky Vardy wept down the phone to friend Coleen Rooney after being accused of leaking stories about her.
She begged Wayne’s 33-year-old wife to believe she was not to blame. A source said: “She pleaded but was rebuffed.”

Coleen had turned super-sleuth to track down the friend she claimed was leaking stories about her and husband Wayne.
She was dubbed “Wagatha Christie” after hatching an elaborate months-long plan to plant “fake” tales on her personal Instagram page.
She deliberately blocked all her friends from her account — except Rebekah Vardy — in a bid to uncover the alleged mole.
Coleen, 33, even allowed the stories to be printed in The Sun by refusing to deny them.

Once she was satisfied she had enough “proof” she went online to publicly accuse Becky, 37 — sending social media into a meltdown.
Coleen told yesterday morning how she had finally “got to the bottom” of a problem troubling her for “a few years now”.
Her statement went on: “Someone who I trusted to follow me on my personal Instagram account has been consistently informing The Sun newspaper of my private posts and stories.”
She said she became suspicious of one person — so allowed only them to view her account before posting a “series of false stories”.

Coleen claimed she knew which “account/individual” was to blame when they appeared in the paper.
The statement then ended on a bombshell “reveal”: “It’s . . . Rebekah Vardy’s account.”
As social media users flooded Coleen’s account with comments and memes, shocked Becky immediately rang her pal to assure her she was not behind the stories.
But minutes after putting down the phone, heavily pregnant Becky blasted Coleen on social media - and said her decision to publicly shame her was “disgusting”.

An insider said: “Becky was really upset and pleaded with Coleen to believe she hasn’t gone behind her back.
“She really did want to smooth things over in the friendliest way possible and tried to get Coleen to see it from her point of view by staying calm.
“But as soon as the phone went down, Becky started mulling over their call and was furious about how she’d attempted to call her out publicly without speaking to her.
“When she posted her own message on social media, she did it to put the boot into Coleen. They will never be friends again after this.”
Becky wrote to Coleen in reply: “I never speak to anyone about you. If you thought this was happening you could have told me & I could have changed my passwords to see it stopped.
“Over the years various people have had access to my Insta & just this week I found I was following people I didn’t know and have never followed myself.”
She went on: “I’m disgusted that I’m even having to deny this.”
Becky, married to Leicester City’s Jamie, struck up a friendship with Coleen when their husbands played together for England.
Becky was last night said to be considering taking legal action. She has also reportedly sought further advice to determine how many people had access to her Instagram account and when.
She wrote on Instagram: “I’m pregnant & on holiday & am at a loss to why she would do this. I’m having to take legal advice as I can’t deal with this stress myself when I’m this pregnant.”
Those close to Coleen said she was unfazed by Becky’s “threat”.
The Sun checked every story with representatives for Coleen before publication, and only went ahead when she made it clear she did not dispute the details.
The last story — about the Rooney’s mansion - appeared yesterday after Coleen failed to say it was untrue.
Social media was flooded with spoof pics as the spat exploded. In one, Becky is uncovered as the ghost in Scooby Doo, while the cast of Line of Duty prepare to interview her in another.
Star Martin Compston was one of several celebs to join in, saying: “For the purposes of the tape, I can confirm I am not Coleen Rooney.”
Love Island star Chris Hughes said: “This is the best detective work since Columbo aired in February 1968. Feel for Coleen.”
Hockey Olympian Sam Quek said: “Every time I read, ‘It’s . . . Rebekah Vardy’s account’, my brain then immediately plays the ending of EastEnders.”
Pointless host Richard Osman added: “I will vote for any political party who agree to immediately give us the rest of the day off so we can follow this Coleen Rooney/Rebekah Vardy thing properly.”
Coleen recently moved back to the UK from Washington DC with sons Kai, nine, Klay, six, Kit, three, and 18-month-old Cass.
Wayne has been playing for DC United but will play for Derby County next year.
There were claims last night that a Manchester poker player called “Dave” gave Coleen the idea for her sting in January.
Coleen had expressed concerns on social media that someone close to her was leaking stories.
He advised her: “Make a false story, tell people different things, see which one comes out = find the culprit.”
Their footballer husbands were also said to be close — though then-England boss Roy Hodgson was forced to deny reports they had fallen out during Euro 2016.
There were claims that Rooney told Vardy to make sure his wife didn’t provide a “distraction” with her social media posts.
Hodgson said: “They are very close friends, both on the field and off the field.”
Becky last night flew home from Dubai. Her spokesman said of Coleen’s public claims: “It isn’t true. She is now very upset and stressed so has passed it to her legal team to deal with. Such a shame that Coleen didn’t just call her when she had her number.”
A spokesman for Coleen said last night: “It is irrefutable that the leaks came from one account, and one account only.”
