Ryan Lowe furious after Plymouth concede late equaliser against Scunthorpe

Plymouth boss Ryan Lowe was left fuming after his side conceded a stoppage-time leveller to draw at home with Scunthorpe in League Two.

Abobaker Eisa scored in the third minute of added time after latching on to a defence-splitting ball to make it 2-2.

Alex Gilliead put the Iron ahead before Argyle central defender Will Aimson’s brace put the hosts ahead.

Lowe fumed: “I am obviously disappointed with the goal. To concede a goal with 30 seconds to go is not good enough.

“Overall I didn’t think the game was good enough to be honest. I thought the performance of every single player wasn’t good enough because of the standard we have set – and we are not quite there yet.

“It just goes to prove we are not quite there yet because whatever you do you make sure you don’t concede when there are just 30 seconds to go and we did.

“So they have all failed in the attempt to win three points today which I am angry about because to get to where we want to get to that can’t happen.

“The ball should never have come back up from the other end of the pitch.

“We can’t just let one guy head it and another one run through the middle of us.

“We work hard on things like that every and we have to work hard for our goals.

“You have to work and unfortunately teams are not having to work for goals against us. They are getting given them.”

Scunthorpe boss Paul Hurst was delighted his side got their “just rewards”.

He said: “It was a very good game for League Two, we knew we were coming up against a team who play good football.

“We showed we can play some good football as well and that was epitomised by the opening goal. Numerous passes, good move and finally Alex Gilliead gets on the scoresheet.

“Overall we created quite a few chances, they had some as well. I am not saying it was all one-sided but I felt if we hadn’t got at least a point today that would have been rough on the players and undeserved. Now at least we have got something to take back on the long journey home.

“For all the good football we played, it was one long goal-kick and (Jamie) Proctor wins his header. But we only score because Eisa is willing to run beyond that.

“Sometimes people win headers and stand and stare. People want to be these players that want to score from 25 yards instead of getting in the box.

“Moving forward I don’t see anything but positive times for us if we can get people fit.

“It was an outstanding effort and some really good football to get a point and also reward the fans that made the long journey down.”
