Tyler Walker on target as Lincoln see off Sunderland

Tyler Walker scored a brace – and missed a penalty – as Lincoln claimed a 2-0 victory over Sunderland to pile the pressure back on Black Cats boss Jack Ross.
The Imps produced a magnificent performance against the Sky Bet League One promotion favourites to secure the first win under recently-appointed manager Michael Appleton.
Walker gave the Imps a deserved lead after 17 minutes. Given their superiority, Appleton’s side could have been further ahead at the break.
The Black Cats had just an effort from Laurens De Bock – brilliantly saved by Lincoln goalkeeper Josh Vickers – to show for their efforts in the first half.
Walker had the chance to double his tally after 54 minutes when Bruno Andrade was hauled down in the penalty box by De Bock, but Walker’s spot-kick struck the inside of the post.
However, the rampant Imps continued to pile forward and they did double their lead just before the hour mark when Walker turned home Andrade’s pinpoint cross from the right.
Soon after, many of the 1,800 travelling fans began heading for the exits while the visiting supporters left in the ground greeted the final whistle with boos.
