Luke Armstrong and Jake Jervis opened their accounts as Salford claimed their first away win in the English Football League with a 3-0 victory at in-form Walsall.
Defender Ibou Touray added a late third as the visitors emphatically halted Walsall’s run of four straight wins in all competitions.
Walsall threatened in the third minute as Elijah Adebayo’s glancing header from Rory Holden’s free-kick forced a fingertip save from Salford goalkeeper Kyle Letheren.
But the visitors went ahead after 21 minutes as Craig Conway won a battle for a deep ball with Saddlers keeper Liam Roberts and squared for Armstrong to tuck home his first goal for the club.
Walsall could have levelled before the break but Adebayo’s goalbound volley from a James Clarke cross was diverted over by Salford defender Scott Wiseman.
Salford doubled their lead four minutes into the second half as Jervis fired home the rebound after Roberts had parried another Armstrong strike.
Walsall’s Josh Gordon crashed an effort against a post from 20 yards before Touray drilled home at Roberts’ near post in the 72nd minute.
