Lang nets winner as Shrewsbury defeat 10-man Tranmere

Callum Lang’s second goal of the season was enough for Shrewsbury to edge 10-man Tranmere 1-0.
Lang’s first-half effort proved the difference between the two sides, with the hosts forced to battle the second half with a man less after Connor Jennings was sent off for a second yellow card.
Having been booked early in the action Jennings was then dismissed by referee Craig Hicks in first-half stoppage time after a needless foul on Daniel Udoh.
And the forward’s dismissal always meant Rovers faced a difficult task after the break to get anything from the game, and in the end Lang’s 20th-minute goal was enough for the visitors
The 21-year-old is unlikely to score an easier goal all season as he tapped in defender Aaron Pierre’s shot to put Shrewsbury ahead.
Rovers battled hard to snatch something from the contest but Shrewsbury goalkeeper Max O’Leary pulled off a stunning save from Neil Danns in the last minute.
