Harrison Dunk will be pushing for a start when Cambridge host Macclesfield in Sky Bet League Two on Saturday.
The midfielder was on the bench for last weekend’s 1-1 draw at Stevenage, following a spell on the sidelines, but set up Sam Smith’s leveller five minutes after his introduction.
Samir Carruthers (hamstring) failed to feature but will hope to return on Saturday, although U’s will be missing several other players.
Gary Deegan (blood poisoning), Dan Jones (broken foot) and Harvey Knibbs (ankle) remain on the sidelines.
Macclesfield boss Daryl McMahon will be forced to make a change to the side who played out a 1-1 draw with Colchester last weekend.
Corey O’Keefe received his fifth caution of the season and will serve a one-match suspension at Abbey Stadium.
The Silkmen squad will take on Cambridge fresh from the news they have not been paid for the month of September.
A statement on behalf of the players and staff read: “We are now pleading with EFL to help Macclesfield as a football club to not end up in the same position as what Bury have found themselves in.”
