Manny Oyeleke will be missing for Port Vale’s Sky Bet League Two clash with Morecambe after suffering a hamstring tear at Leyton Orient last weekend.
The midfielder lasted only nine minutes at the Breyer Group Stadium and is set for a lengthy spell out.
Tom Conlon (knee) and Callum Evans (hamstring) remain at least a fortnight away from a return to action, but there is better news elsewhere in the squad for manager John Askey.
Mark Cullen (knock), Cristian Montano (groin) and Rhys Browne (hamstring) could all be in contention to feature on Saturday.
Tom Brewitt will be looking to force his way into the Morecambe team after making his return from a foot injury in the Leasing.com Trophy shoot-out defeat to Wolves in midweek.
Fellow defender Ritchie Sutton has yet to feature since overcoming a hamstring problem sustained last month.
Midfielder Alex Kenyon played 70 minutes of last weekend’s 2-2 draw with Northampton after overcoming an ankle injury.
Luke Conlan was also involved in that match on his return from an ankle issue of his own, but he was replaced just eight minutes into the second half.
