Paudie O’Connor effort secures point for Bradford

Scunthorpe survived the first-half dismissal of midfielder Matthew Lund to draw 1-1 with Bradford.
Bradford captain James Vaughan volleyed against the inside of the post before Northern Ireland international Jamie Ward made an instant impression on his Scunthorpe debut by firing them into a 13th-minute lead from the penalty spot.
Bradford defender Kelvin Mellor blocked Ward’s shot with his right arm and the forward, who had only signed for the Iron on Thursday, dispatched the resulting spot-kick.
Lund was then sent off for a lunge on Matt Palmer, who limped off minutes later.
Bradford had a great chance to equalise at the end of the first half but Clayton Donaldson, making his 600th career appearance, headed wide from close range.
But Donaldson played his part when they levelled on 56 minutes, flicking on Harry Pritchard’s cross for centre half Paudie O’Connor to head home.
Bradford piled on the pressure looking for a winner and Lee Novak cleared off the line from Donaldson before Rory Watson denied Aramide Oteh.
