Ipswich struck three times in the second half to see off struggling Tranmere 4-1 and cement their position at the top of League One.
Luke Garbutt had put Town ahead in the first half with a wonderful 25-yard free-kick but Tranmere levelled soon after through Stefan Payne.
The hosts would not be denied though, and they retook the lead through Kayden Jackson in the 48th minute before Jon Nolan and Kane Vincent-Young, with a wonderful solo effort, wrapped up the win.
Town took the lead in the 35th minute following a handball decision by referee Ben Toner. Up stepped Garbutt to rifle a left-footed shot into the top right-hand corner of Scott Davies’ goal.
Four minutes later Tranmere found an equaliser thanks to Payne, ensuring the the teams would go into half-time level at 1-1.
However, the hosts were back in front almost immediately after the restart when a Garbutt free-kick was spilled by keeper Davies and Jackson was on hand to fire the ball home.
It was 3-1 just after the hour when Nolan found the net with a header after Jackson’s initial strike was deflected into the path of the midfielder.
The scoring was completed eight minutes later when a mazy run by Vincent-Young resulted in him firing a superb left-footed shot into the net.
