As per a report from reliable Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United have opened contract negotiations with starlet Mason Greenwood.
Greenwood's rise to stardom
17-year-old attacker Greenwood is widely-regarded as one of the finest young talents on United's books.
After starring at youth level for the Red Devils, the goal-scorer was first introduced to the first-team ranks of the Manchester giants last season, before being handed his debut by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer back in March.
And the opening weeks of the new campaign have since seen Greenwood go from strength to strength.
The gifted teen has managed appearances in 4 of United's 6 Premier League outings to this point, albeit from the bench.
He was, though, handed a start in the Red Devils' Europa League curtain-raiser versus Astana last week. And to say that Greenwood went on to take full advantage of the opportunity afforded to him would be putting it lightly.
The English U21 international netted the only goal of the clash, with a brilliant piece of skill and drilled finish 15 minutes from time.
'Talks ongoing'
As such, news emerging this evening that the United board have taken the first steps to tie Greenwood down with a new contract has come as little surprise.
As per the reliable Fabrizio Romano, talks have been opened between the Old Trafford hierarchy and their prodigious youngster, over the terms of a 5-year deal.
Negotiations, as things stand, are said to be 'ongoing':
