Harry Kane has often been linked with a move away from Tottenham but Jamie O’Hara says the England captain must make it clear if he wants to leave.

Manchester City are the only team who could afford Harry Kane if he were to leave Tottenham, claims former Spurs midfielder Jamie O’Hara.

Kane’s future in north London has often been a topic of discussion due to the fact he is yet to win any silverware in his career.

O’Hara says the striker would have to demand a move away from boyhood club Spurs and believes Manchester City are the only side who could afford his fee and wages

"No I can’t see it [Kane moving to another Premier League team],” O’Hara told talkSPORT.

"The only club that could probably afford him is Man City, do you know what I mean?

"Obviously they’re going to want to spend a lot of money.

"Spurs, I just can’t see Spurs letting him go, why would they want to?

"Harry would have to come out and say ‘look, it’s time to move on, I want a new challenge’.

"I think then you’re going to be talking a lot of money and there’s only one team that probably he could go to - Man City.”

Meanwhile, former Manchester United and England defender Rio Ferdinand claimed earlier this week he would leave Tottenham if he was Kane.

"If you look at it as if you’re an individual, put yourself in like Harry Kane’s shoes, you’re saying ‘I’m off’,” Ferdinand said on BT Sport before the 2-2 Champions League draw against Olympiacos.

"I’ve got to be honest with you, I’d be gone because I’ve not got time to hang around.

"'I’ve given most of my career to this club and they haven’t [won anything]'.

"Yeah, you go very close, you can keep going very close, they’ve been close a few times of winning the league and then obviously the Champions League. It’s not enough.

"I can understand [Christian] Eriksen, you can understand Eriksen’s frustrations and wanting to leave and saying ‘I want to go somewhere and potentially win something’, not be a maybe.”
