Nathan Smith rescues late Port Vale point against Mansfield

Nathan Smith’s dramatic last-minute equaliser extended Port Vale’s unbeaten home start to the Sky Bet League Two season as they recorded a 2-2 draw against Mansfield.
Danny Rose’s 75th-minute penalty had separated the two sides at Vale Park, before Smith’s last-gasp leveller.
Stags goalkeeper Conrad Logan made a fine early save to keep out Mark Cullen early on.
Down the other end, stopper Scott Brown could only parry CJ Hamilton’s initial strike into the path of Kellan Gordon to slot home the opener after 14 minutes.
Rose should have doubled the visitors’ advantage when he nodded wide.
Cullen levelled deep in first-half stoppage time when he fired home at the back post.
After the break, Malvind Benning inexplicably fired over from close range for John Dempsey’s Stags.
Rose went down in the box with 15 minutes left before sending Brown the wrong way from the resultant penalty.
But Smith bundled home a last-ditch equaliser to steal a share of the spoils with virtually the last kick of the game.
