McGeady’s added-time penalty denies Bolton first win of the season

Sunderland’s Aiden McGeady snatched a late equaliser from the penalty spot in a 1-1 Skybet League One draw at bottom-of-the-table Bolton.
Wanderers led through Jack Hobbs’ 50th-minute strike and were heading for their first win of the season which would have ended a run of 175 days without victory.
Instead, McGeady tucked away a 92nd-minute spot-kick after substitute Yoan Zouma’s handball.
The Black Cats’ last gasp point took some of the heat off manager Jack Ross.
‘Sacked in the morning’ chanted Sunderland’s 4,000 strong travelling contingent towards Ross midway through the second half.
There was a further chorus of ‘you don’t know what you are doing’ after substituting Chris Maguire for Charlie Wyke.
But Sunderland weren’t without chances. Luke O’Nien and Tom Flanagan hit the woodwork, Will Grigg headed wide from close range in the first half while keeper Remi Matthews kept out efforts from McGeady and Lynden Gooch.
Wanderers, who haven’t won since a 2-1 Championship success at QPR on March 30, also hit the post through Dennis Politic as they gained a second successive draw.
