Walsall boss Clarke could stick with unchanged side against Scunthorpe

Walsall boss Darrell Clarke could name an unchanged side for the third successive game as he prepares to welcome Scunthorpe to the Banks’s Stadium on Saturday.

The Saddlers fielded the same starting XI in Saturday’s 1-0 home defeat by Bradford and Tuesday night’s win by the same score at Morecambe, their first League Two victory since the opening day of the campaign.

Defender Cameron Pring and striker Elijah Adebayo did not feature in the 18 for either game as they battled knocks, while full-back Cameron Norman returned to the bench as an unused substitute in midweek.

Kory Roberts, who has not played since suffering an horrific double leg fracture last summer, remains on the long-term casualty list.

Scunthorpe striker Jamie Proctor is a doubt because of a knee problem.

The on-loan Rotherham frontman damaged a knee in the warm-up before Tuesday night’s 2-2 draw with Oldham and went on to play the full 90 minutes, and he will be assessed before manager Paul Hurst names his team.

The game will come too soon for central defender Andy Butler, who has missed the last two matches with a foot injury, and striker Lee Novak, who continues to fight his way back from an ankle problem.

Levi Sutton and Andy Dales got minutes under their belts in a behind closed doors friendly against Doncaster on Tuesday, but they are among a series of players who are being closely monitored.
